The Western Cape Education Department has urged candidates who were not successful in their final matric examinations to register to re-write at the end of this year.

Those who were unhappy with their results will also have the opportunity to apply for supplementary examinations which take place in February and March.

The province achieved an 82.8% pass rate.

Western Cape Education Spokesperson Jessica Shelver says the closing date for applications to write supplementary examinations is January 19th.

“There is still an opportunity to apply for the NSC at the end of 2018 as a repeater candidate. Candidates also now have the opportunity to have their scripts remarked or rechecked or to view their scripts. We urge all candidates to make use of these opportunities and put in their best efforts.”

Meanwhile, students are queuing at the University of Johannesburg.
