Facebook has released research detailing how women who want to start their own businesses have the potential to boost the South African economy by 175-billion-rand

Facebook has released research detailing how women who want to start their own businesses have the potential to boost the South African economy by R175-billion.

However, the research also revealed that lack of access to finance as the main barrier to women setting up shop.

Facebook’s Public Policy Manager for the SADC region Emilar Gandhi says they are enthusiastic about growing small businesses and to empower women.

Sphelele Chikowi, who has used Facebook to successfully market her business Ntozinhle Accessorise, says the social media medium has helped her to grow her business.
