F State ANC officially endorses Dlamini-Zuma as next president

The ANC in the Free State has become the first province to officially endorse Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma as its preferred candidate to become the party’s next president.

The announcement was made on Tuesday night at the party’s Provincial General Council meeting in Parys.

Revealing its top six candidates for next month’s national elective conference, the province chose the party’s chairperson in Mpumalanga David Mabuza to become ANC deputy president.

Free State chairperson and Premier Ace Magashule was nominated as Secretary General and Maite Nkoana-Mashabane as Treasurer-General.

The province wants Jessie Duarte to remain in the position of Deputy Secretary General, while selecting Nathi Mthethwa as National Chairperson.

Provincial ANC Spokesperson Thabo Mekoe says all members of the party have accepted the outcome of the nomination.

“Comrade Nkosazana received 209 nominations, Cyril Ramaphosa 44, Mabuza for deputy president 204 and Lindiwe Sisulu 28. Mantashe 57, Nathi 207, Magashule SG 216 and Senzo 36.”
