Naidoo says the President should not only look at the current sitting judges but also private individuals with vast judicial knowledge.
“The Chief Justice is not just the head of the Constitutional Court. He or she [is] also the head of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) and also a head of the government department which is now the office of the Chief Justice that has all sorts of responsibilities for the functioning of all the high courts in SA. A person has to be an exceptional jurist. Respect among their peers with good management and leadership skills,” says Naidoo.
