Ex-Bok De Villiers calls for awareness on water crisis

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Former Springbok captain, Jean de Villiers, says it is important to create more awareness in South Africa around the water crisis in Cape Town.

He says all South Africans should do their bit to assist during the crisis.

De Villiers says he fully supports the new #6BFORME campaign which a local storage company has launched in aid of drought relief in the city.

The campaign is calling on South Africans to donate five litre bottles of water to Stor-Age stores across the country, which the company will then distribute in Cape Town.

De Villiers says, “Stor-Age have also opened up all their facilities and if you drop off water there, they’ll make sure that gets to Cape Town. So, I think it’s a fantastic initiative and essentially it’s helping the City of Cape Town with this massive issue that we have and just being good citizens sticking to 50 litres a day. Hopefully #6BFORME can be on everyone’s lips, everyone can understand it and everyone can stick to the 50 litres of water a day that you can use in the Western Cape.”
