Eskom workers, represented by trade unions Numsa, NUM and Solidarity, have rejected the power utility’s wage offer of 4.7%.
The unions say they are consulting their principles on wage negotiations and will provide an answer on Wednesday. Unions are demanding a 15% increment.
Eskom made the 4.7% on Tuesday after initially making no offer at all.
Eskom has meanwhile issued an alert saying the risk of load-shedding remains high this evening – but will only be implemented if absolutely necessary.
