Eskom says two of its workers, Sarah Sibiya and Bhekizizwe Twala, who are employed at the Tutuka Power Station have appeared in the Standerton Magistrate’s Court in Mpumalanga on fraud, corruption and theft charges. They have been released on R5000 bail each.

Eskom says a supplier, Jessie Kubeka, has now also been arrested in connection with the fuel oil syndicate.

Eskom says the trio were charged in connection with hundreds of millions of rands paid by the power utility for goods and services that were not delivered.

Four other suspects are expected to appear in court next week. The trial has been set down for the 21st of February next year.
