Eskom will not be privatised: Ramaphosa

President Cyril Ramaphosa says Eskom will not be privatised, but government will continue to support the power utility until its liquidity problems have been solved.

He was addressing Eskom’s Medupi power station workers in Lephalale in Limpopo. Eskom owes more than R400-billion used to build the Medupi and Kusile power stations.

President Ramaphosa also officiated at the commissioning of Unit two, the second last one to be switched on. Unit one will be switched on next year.
