Eskom says load shedding can be expected for the next 18 months as it catches up on maintenance

Eskom has warned that the probability of load shedding remains for the rest of the week. Eskom on Sunday night announced that load shedding had been halted.

Eskom spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha says the system remains constrained. Eskom says load shedding can be expected for the next 18 months as it catches up on maintenance.

This past week President Cyril Ramaphosa announced a number of measures to address South Africa’s power crisis during his State of the Nation Address.

These include allowing financially healthy municipalities to source their own power.
