Eskom suspends rolling blackouts until 4pm

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Eskom is calling on all South Africans to please use electricity wisely. This comes at a time when the power utility is even under greater pressure to keep the lights on as more households use electricity during winter.

The power utility has announced the suspension of rolling blackouts until 4pm Tuesday afternoon. Stage 4 power cuts will thereafter be implemented.

Eskom says by using electricity sparingly, less pressure will be placed on the system, and this will help curb higher stages of load shedding.

Spokesperson, Daphne Mokoena, says: “Eskom is appealing to all members of the public to please use electricity sparingly and efficiently, especially during peak hours. This is between five and nine in the morning and five and nine in the evening. This will assist in alleviating the pressure on the system as well as ensuring that we do not experience higher stages of load shedding.”
