‘There’s no basis for Zuma to set aside remedial action’

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Attorney representing the United Democratic Movement and Congress of the People, Eric Mabuza, argues that there is no basis for the President Jacob Zuma to set aside the Public Protector’s remedial action.

Mabuza says that the courts should carry through the remedial action proposed by Thuli Madonsela.

The president’s lawyers made the assertion in their responding papers filed at the High Court in Pretoria on Tuesday.

Last week Zuma took Madonsela’s recommendation that he establish a commission of inquiry into the matter headed up by a judge selected by Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng on review.
