Ennerdale student Luyanda Tshabalala who was shot dead by his father in an alleged accident on Tuesday night has been laid to rest at the Olifantsvlei cemetery in Johannesburg.

Luyanda’s father Sibusiso told a court this week that he shot his son dead outside his school in Ennerdale after mistaking him for a criminal.

His uncle, Timothy Tshabalala, described his nephew as an intelligent child showing great potential.

He says it would take time for the family to heal from the incident.

He says, “He was a very respectful and disciplined child, not only to the community around but even at school. He had lot of friends because of his personality.”

“We will miss him because I don’t think there’s anyone in the family who can fill that gap. From now onwards as a family we are left alone, immediately after people leave us we are going to feel lost,” says the uncle.
