The Presidency says people can continue to register to vote at their local Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) offices until the date of the election is gazetted towards the end of the month.

Presidential spokesperson Mac Maharaj has urged people who missed the final registration weekend to register. More than a million voters registered over the weekend.

Maharaj says, “Voter registrations will continue until the date of the official proclamation of the election by President Jacob Zuma and premiers towards the end of the month. The Presidency has received enquiries from members of the public who still wish to register.”

He adds, “Potential voters that missed the past weekend’s final registration opportunity can proceed to register at the IEC offices located in every municipality in South Africa. However, they must make an appointment to apply for the registrations at their local IEC offices.”
