PATRIOTIC ALLIANCE
Reading Time: < 1 minute

Party abbreviation: PA

In the 2019 elections, the party will contest for seats in the National Assembly and the Free State, Gauteng and North West provincial legislatures.

The Patriotic Alliance was formed on 30 November 2013 by businessmen Gayton McKenzie and Kenny Kunene.

The PA ran its first election campaign during the 2014 general elections but failed to secure enough votes to get a seat in the National Assembly.

It also didn’t do that well in the four provinces it was running for seats.

But its fortunes changed during the 2016 municipal polls – with the party becoming kingmakers in Nelson Mandela Bay.

The PA says it’s a champion of the people and believes that is the political alternative that will bring tangible change for the majority of South Africans.
