In the 2019 elections, Al Jama-ah will be fielding candidates for the National election, as well as for 3 Provincial elections in the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape.
Al Jama-ah was founded on 23 April 2007 by Ganief Hendricks. Hendricks is still the leader of the party.

Al Jama-ah contested the 2009 and 2014 National and Provincial elections. The party also competed in the 2011 and 2016 municipal elections.
It has no elected representation at either national or provincial level. The party has 9 seats at local level following the 2016 municipal elections.
