International Relations Deputy Minister Luwellyn Landers has assured international election observers that South Africa does not have any ‘no-go’ areas.

He briefed the SADC Observer team on Tuesday on the country’s safety and security.

Some members of the SADC Election Observer Team had concerns following media reports of xenophobia in certain communities across the country.

Deputy Minister Luwellyn Landers assured the Observers that everyone was free to move without fear.

He described those incidents as pure criminal activities that won’t have a bearing on the elections.

He further committed that the safety and security of everyone residing and visiting SA was the responsibility of the government.

Landers said that visitors can rest assured that nothing untoward will happen to them during their stay.
