Ekurhuleni mayor condemns murder of deputy principal in Tembisa

Ekurhuleni mayor Tania Campbell has condemned the murder of the deputy principal of the Phomolong Secondary School in Tembisa, east of Johannesburg.

Thembisile Ngendane was gunned down on Friday afternoon allegedly by three unidentified men.

The 50-year-old woman was shot and killed in her vehicle in the driveway of the school.

Police have since launched a manhunt for the killers.

The incident follows a tragic death last week in Daveyton of a grade ten learner believed to have been mistakenly shot by another learner before taking his own life.

Spokesperson for the mayor Phakamile Mbengashe says: “Tania Campbell vehemently condemns the senseless murder of a deputy principal in Thembisa. South African Police Service and all social partners in the City of Ekurhuleni to work together to curb the incidents of violent crimes in our schools.”
