Communities in Ekurhuleni will take to the streets again, on Saturday, to voice their anger and call for increased action against incidents of Gender Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF).

This follows the murder of 12 women in Ekurhuleni since July this year.

Their bodies were found dumped at various locations across the city.

Community members including churches, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO) and students are expected to gather, at the Kempton Park Civic centre, before marching to the Kempton Park police station.

The murders sent shockwaves across South Africa and beyond, especially given the violent manner in which some of the women were killed. Some of the bodies were found with their throats slit, while others were in an advanced state of decomposition.

President Cyril Ramaphosa announced a four-point plan of government to deal with GBVF.

Communities are expected to call for more protection for women and for police to provide progress with regards to their investigations into the murdered women.
