Eight-year-old Naidoo shines at SA Junior Chess Champs

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Eight-year-old Kajol Naidoo got Knights and Rooks rolling in her advantage after bagging in 8 of 8 games today in the South African Junior Chess Championship (SAJCC) taking place in Birchwood hotel on Gauteng’s East Rand.

Naidoo the only girl in the team representing Johannesburg Metro Under-10 A, assisted her side to scoop gold in the U-10 category.

Her performance came as no surprise as she was recently crowned African Youth Chess Champion in Windhoek, Namibia last month. Naidoo is delighted with her performance.

As the African Champion U-8 girl and FIDE Woman Candidate Master in December 2019,  she has been offered an opportunity to play simultaneously with a Grand Master  Levon Aronian which the young glorious star describes as a lifetime opportunity.

Her proud father Ricardo Naidoo gives credit to his little champion for committing herself to the chess game. Naidoo senior adds that the family fully supports his daughter including her school.
