EFF stands with IEC as smaller parties threaten court action

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) says it does not understand why smaller parties are making allegations against the Electoral Commission. Multiple smaller parties allege that processes were flawed during the counting of votes.

They addressed the media at the Results Elections Centre in Pretoria, where they called for a re-run of elections and threatened to lodge a complaint in the Electoral Court.

With over 70% of the election votes counted so far, the Electoral Commission has assured South Africans that they are credible.

“We don’t know what was happening here. Perhaps maybe we are missing something because there was a meeting earlier on where these issues were raised and the IEC have committed that they are going to conduct a sample of audits and the parties agreed. So we are waiting for the votes to come in and we will take it from there,” says Peter Keetse, EFF.
