Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema says his party will not participate in the election of a new president of the country on Thursday afternoon, as it does not want to legitimise it.

Malema was briefing the media following Jacob Zuma’s resignation as Head of State on Wednesday night.

Malema says Zuma’s leadership almost collapsed South Africa.

According to Malema, African National Congress (ANC) president Cyril Ramaphosa is as corrupt as Zuma.

“Even those who will be elected after Zuma will be nothing but substitute in the same corruption game and competition. If Ramaphosa becomes president he is simply going to replace Zuma’s corruption stories with his own corruption stories.”

“The recent appointment of Sifiso Dabengwa is a worrying sign that Ramaphosa will replace Zuma’s thieves with his own thieves,” says Malema.
