The EFF in the North West has launched a scathing attack on the ANC for its delay to appoint a premier to succeed Supra Mahumapelo.

Mahumapelo resigned last month following violent protests, in which he was accused of corruption.

A sitting of the legislature set for Saturday has now been postponed, since the ANC is still consulting its structures on the process of appointing a premier.

EFF Member of the Provincial Legislature Alfred Motsi says the present acting premier doesn’t even have confidence in herself.

“She knows very well that her appointment was illegal. That’s why some of the MEC’s, including some of the HOD’s and directors, they will not take her serious. She’s unable to give them directions. We must not be surprised at the end of the financial year, to realise that North West was unable to spend the finances, due to the fact that there is no one who is taking decisions. North West is leaderless. This is a total embarrassment.”
