The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) says the firing of Police Commissioner Khehla Sitole has the hallmarks of African National Congress (ANC) factional battles.

President Cyril Ramaphosa fired Sitole on Friday after he called was a mutual agreement for him to go.

However, EFF Spokesperson Sinawo Tambo said firing Sitole will not bring any stability in the police service as the Minister is the root of the problem in the South African Police Service (SAPS) .

He says the President kept Cele for political reasons.

“The EFF has noted the firing of Khehla Sitole as yet another factional misfiring by Cyril Ramaphosa. It is our understanding that Ramaphosa has fired the wrong individual because he is going t an elective conference and he wanted to keep his henchman Bheki Cele as he goes into that conference. There is no stability in SAPS so long as Bheki Cele is the problem. When the EFF pointed that Sitole and him have a problems that is not helping the fight against crime. Cele took an an offence. Bheki Cele has been a Police Commissioner. so he thinks he has the expertise and one will tell him,” says Tambo.
