EFF refutes claims of coalition talks with ANC

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The EFF has rubbished Sunday’s front-page report in the Sunday Times that it is in coalition talks with the ANC as malicious and false tabloid journalism.

The EFF says the only truth in the report is that its members attended Winnie Madikizela Mandela‘s funeral on Saturday and that party leader Julius Malema was one of the speakers.

The EFF’s emphasised that there are no talks with the ANC, formal or informal, about working together in 2019, before or beyond. It says the only thing that the EFF’s attendance at Mama Winnie’s funeral showed, was political tolerance.

“We as the EFF dismiss with content the Sunday Times reports that we are in discussion with the ANC, with the possibility of forming a coalition. The EFF will never ever form any coalition with the ANC. The Sunday Times is being opportunistic. For us to attend Mama Winnie’s funeral does not mean at all that we are one organisation,” said EFF deputy president, Floyd Shivambu.
