The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in the Free State has called for the immediate resignation of the Justice Minister Ronald Lamola and the termination of the G4S contract.

The EFF will today picket outside the Mangaung prison in Bloemfontein from where the Facebook rapist Thabo Bester had escaped.

Three officials from the prison have been suspended pending the finalisation of the investigation into how Bester escaped.

The EFF provincial chairperson Mapheule Liphoko, “When politicians fumble like this only officials will pay the price, so minister of correctional services must be excused from his work and be fired.

This exposes SA to unnecessary harm and more so when it’s done by a private company involved. We also hope for the cancellation of that company’s contract and it should never happen again that SA prison facilities be given to private companies, so we want total abolishment of that tender.”
