EFF’s claims come after Tuesday's announcement Baleka Mbete that SONA will be postponed to a date yet to be announced.

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) insists it’s due to them putting pressure on the African National Congress (ANC) that the State of the Nation Address (SONA) was postponed.

President Jacob Zuma has maintained that his request and not that of opposition parties is the reason that the State of the Nation Address has been postponed.

This comes after Tuesday’s announcement by the Speaker of Parliament, Baleka Mbete that SONA will be postponed to a date yet to be announced.

EFF chairperson Dali Mpofu says, “The only reason that these people are moving like this is because we put maximum pressure on them. We told them that the SONA was not going to happen; now they concede and they say look the so called political environment means that it was going to be a difficult SONA, that’s political speak for saying that the EFF was going to make sure the ANC does not get away with this.”

Actually, I’m sure part of this delaying tactics is maybe to allow the Guptas to clean up the money and take it to Dubai, so we must be very alert of all this delays,” says Mpofu.
