EFF call for Mahikeng speaker’s suspension prompts chaos

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Chaos has erupted at the Mahikeng Local municipality Council chambers as members of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) called for the suspension of Bafana Nebe of the African National Congress (ANC), who is the speaker at the Municipality.

Nebe is facing a malicious damage to property charges and common assault. This after Nebe and other ANC members disrupted a meeting organised by Save North West Campaign who call themselves as “Revolutionary Council” at Ratshidi Hall in Mahikeng a week ago.

Nebe is currently out on R1 000 bail.

EFF Chief Whip in the Mahikeng local municipality, David Morwe says they cannot consent to be addressed by Nebe.

“We can’t be addressed by the speaker to discuss money issues with the speaker who is so corrupt. So we did put a motion of No Confidence against the speaker that’s why they called bouncers to man handled us and take us out as usual. Last time they called these bouncers to assault us. We opened a case against them but nothing happen,” says Morwe.
