EFF breaks the 100 000 mark in KZN

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The EFF has broken the 100 000 in KwaZulu Natal with only 50.13% of the voting districts declared in the province. The party has thus far amassed more than 120 000 votes.

This comes as a bit of a surprise considering the resurgence of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) which seems en route to unseating DA as the opposition party in the province. In addition, the EFF’s recent controversial comments against the Indian community did not sit well with many – but seems to have played in it’s favour.

This comes as major growth for the party in the province having received just more than 70 000 votes in KwaZulu Natal during the 2014 general elections.

Interestingly, the party is at just more than 76 000 votes in Limpopo, even though this number is still expected to go higher as voting continues.

In other results, the EFF looks poised to become the official opposition in Limpopo, North West and Mpumalanga.
