Idolising the likes of Virgil Van Dijk, compared to the Jerome Boateng and rumoured to be eyed as a possible replacement for David Luiz at Arsenal, Edmond Tapsoda is one centre-back to look out for in Cameroon and the future.
The 22-year-old didn’t waste time to cement his in the Bayer Leverkusen team in the Bundesliga since joining the club on a five-year deal two years ago. Since then, he raked up 45 appearances for the club with one goal. Before his move to Bayer Leverkusen, the Burkinabe had made a name for himself turning out 46 times for Vitória de Guimarães in the Primeira Liga of Portugal, scoring 11 goals in the process.
His rock-solid performances in the Bundesliga have reportedly generated interest from the English Premier League with Arsenal looking to replace Luiz, who recently left the club for Flamengo in Brazil, with Tapsoda. Although it is unlikely that Bayer Leverkusen would let go on the young defender who still contracted to the club until 2026, the thought of Arsenal management believing that Ougadogou lad could fill the big shoes left by the highly experience and well-travelled 34-year-old Brazilian, speaks volumes of Tapsoda – absolutely one to look out for in Cameroon.
