EC Contralesa to mediate in King Dalindyebo saga

The Congress of Traditional Leadership of South Africa (Contralesa) in the Eastern Cape has volunteered to intervene and mediate in the impasse between AbaThembu King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo and his son acting King Azenathi Dalindyebo.

This in an attempt to restore stability among the AbaThembu. Tensions between the father and son maifested when King Dalindyebo forcefully entered the Bumbane Great Place armed with an axe and a crowbar last Saturday.

Acting King Azenathi and his wife ran for their lives, but were wounded in the process. The situation became worse when the acting King Azenathi filed a protection order against his father.

“When I heard that there was a temporal protection order that has been obtained, we felt that then it is really necessary that we needed to intervene with the view that there needed to be mutual respect between father and the son relationship with a view that kingship is also restored,” says Chief Mwelo Nonkonyana, Contralesa Provincial Chairperson.
