Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Department of Social Development in the Eastern Cape is encouraging all workers in the sector to get vaccinated for COVID-19.

The department has begun its roll-out programme targetting more than 39 000 people.

The campaign includes all early childhood development (ECD) employees, social workers, child and youth care workers.

Government hopes to administer at least one vaccine dose to 35 million people by Christmas:

Eastern Cape Social Development MEC Siphokazi Lusithi and senior departmental officials received their vaccines at the De Vos Malan School vaccination site in Qonce.

“This is to urge all our partners and comrades in the social development sector to get vaccinated. It has been open for all of us now to vaccinate. We still need you [to get vaccinated]. We are urging all ECDs and community development workers to get vaccinated.”

“Protect yourselves because we still need you. Protect your country. Protect your province. Get vaccinated,” adds Lusithi.
