Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Wapadsberg Pass between Graaff-Reinet and Cradock as well as the Lootsberg Pass between Middelburg and Graaff-Reinet remain closed due to heavy snowfalls.

The Lootsberg Pass was reopened for a short period on Monday afternoon but closed again later.

Department of Transport Spokesperson Khuselwa Rantjie says traffic and disaster management officers are monitoring the situation and will take decisions based on the conditions.

Meanwhile, some passes in the Western Cape that had to be closed due to heavy snowfalls and rain have been reopened.

They include the Gydo, Theronsberg and the Matroosberg passes near Ceres in the Koue Bokkeveld.

Western Cape Traffic Chief Kenny Africa says they will monitor the weather conditions during the day.
