One suspect is expected to appear at the Mthatha Magistrate’s Court in the Eastern Cape on Monday in connection with an armed robbery at a restaurant on Friday.
A customer was shot and killed during the robbery, when three armed men stormed the business and demanded money at from patrons and staff at gunpoint.
Police spokesperson Thembinkosi Kinana said a 49 year-old man was killed during a struggle with customers and staff.
Kinana said, “One of the suspects was arrested whilst the other two escaped with an undisclosed amount of money. We are investigating cases of armed robbery, murder and attempted murder. We request anyone who may have information that can lead to the arrest of the remaining two suspects to please contact the nearest police station or call our crime stop number 08600 10111.”
