The inaugural Eastern Cape Children’s Book Festival has been hailed as a success by the organisers.

The two-day festival, which encourages children to read, kicked off in East London on Saturday. It features interactive workshops, a seminar on Autism Disorder, book launches and puppet shows.

“We always look at the matric results and forgetting to lay a good foundation for children to enjoy books and to love reading. So, by the time they reach matric stage at least the child is well aware and is able to read and able to understand and enjoy new information that is found in books,” says Founder and Director of the festival, Vuyokazi Biyana.
