Eastern Cape ANC to name preferred candidate on Thursday

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The ANC in the Eastern Cape is set to pronounce on its preferred candidate for the national party leadership on Thursday.

In the past few days, the Western Cape ANC has come out behind presidential hopeful Cyril Ramaphosa and the Free State behind his main rival, Nkosazana Dlamini- Zuma.

The party’s Eastern Cape PEC will sit in East London to consolidate the branch nominations it has received.

In Nelson Mandela Bay an attempt to unseat the DA and particularly mayor Athol Trollip in a motion of no confidence will also take place.

The ANC and the opposition parties have both called media briefings on their position on the non confidence matter for Wednesday.

Tensions are expected to run high at all meetings.
