Eastern Cape ANC to hold two-day virtual lekgotla

The African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape is set to hold a two-day virtual lekgotla from today. Chairperson, Oscar Mabuyane, will deliver the keynote address.

The lekgotla will consist of mayors, MECs, and ministers.

It is expected to carve the mandate for the upcoming local government elections.

IEC says local government elections will go ahead as planned: 

ANC spokesperson in the province, Gift Ngqondi, elaborates on issues that will top the lekgotla’s agenda: “This virtual lekgotla is taking shortly after the delivery of the January 8th statement by President Cyril Ramaphosa and will focus on the following key priorities that have been identified for the year above one defeating the COVID-19 pandemic economic reconstruction, social protection, strengthen government legislation, and also ANC renewal and local government elections and the fight against gender-based violence.”
