E-hailing operators in Mahikeng, North West, suspended their services on Monday.
This comes after traffic officers impounded their cars because they do not have permits.
They say more than 35 cars have been impounded, including sedans, seven-seaters, and minibus taxis.
Operators say they have been taken from pillar to post when they are supposed to make applications for e-hailing.
Some of the operators say since their cars were impounded, their livelihood is severely affected.
“They impounded our cars while dropping learners at school. So now we are forced to hire cars to fetch learners at schools, and per day it is R700.”
“The ticket I got, they wrote R3 500 and the other ticket is R1 750 and the last ticket is for impound, which is R5 000” added another operator.
