E-hailing service operators to strike on Tuesday

Reading Time: < 1 minute
Electronic hailing service operators say they are forging ahead with their national shutdown from Tuesday. A meeting was convened by Gauteng Transport MEC Jacob Mamabolo in Johannesburg on Monday afternoon in a last-ditch attempt to avert the strike action.
But the e-hailing service operators say taking their strike to the Union Buildings in Pretoria on Tuesday will proceed as planned.
They say this will help prevent their exploitation and promote safety within the e-hailing sector.
Spokesperson for the E-hailing service operators Vhatuka Mbelengwa says, “We have had a long process of engagement with the MEC. The MEC will not be interdicting our strike. Our strike will continue as planned. Our programme of protest for the week is going to go forth.”
