The N2 northbound route between Spaghetti Junction and the M7 in Durban remains closed. This comes as cleanup efforts continue following a service delivery protest in Chesterville on Monday night.

The protesters barricaded the road with rubble and burning tyres disrupting traffic for hours.

The road closure has exacerbated traffic volumes on alternative routes out of areas south of Durban.

Metro police spokesperson Colonel Boysie Zungu is urging motorists to use alternative routes.

“N2 between Spaghetti Junction and M7 is closed due to last night’s service delivery protest, where they burnt a truck carrying a motor vehicle. We are advising motorists to use alternative routes. If you are going to Durban, you can take M4. If you are going in the west direction, you can take M7 to avoid delays.”
