It is believed that the woman was killed by her husband who then hanged himself in the house.

KwaZulu-Natal police have opened a case of murder and an inquest after a woman was found inside a house in Phoenix, north of Durban, suffocated to death with a plastic bag.

It is believed that she was killed by her husband who then hanged himself in the house.

Police Spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says a nine-month-old baby was found in the house, unharmed.

“It is alleged that on Saturday at about 18h25 on Semlen Drive on the north coast, a 30-year-old woman was found suffocated with plastic and was also tied with a belt and a 35-year-old man was found hanging inside a house and a nine-month-old baby was inside the house. The baby was not harmed. Charges of murder and inquest are being investigated by Phoenix police and the circumstances surrounding the incident are still being investigated.”
