Durban July might be held without spectators

Horse racing and betting company Gold Circle is proposing to hold the prestigious Durban July racing event on the 25th of July without any spectators present.

Gold Circle and sponsor Vodacom say they will be working with government and the horse racing fraternity on their proposal to still host the event this year.

They say all government health protocols with regards to COVID-19 will be observed in staging one of Africa’s greatest horse racing events.

Gold Circle CEO, Michel Nairac says they are proposing to exclude spectators from the event.

Apart from attracting some of the best racehorses in the country, the Durban July is also is also a big social and fashion event.
