Durban is preparing to host one of its first major international conferences since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala has announced that the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre will host the Intra-Africa Trade Fair in November and the International Conference on AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections in December.

Some delegates will attend in person and others virtually.
Professor John Idoko says they will discuss how COVID-19 has affected the fight against epidemics such as HIV/AIDS.
“We see for example that even the gains that we made on HIV/Aids, TB, and malaria are all on the decline because of COVID-19. And even COVID-19, we can’t actually muster a good response to it. As we speak, only 2% of Africa has been able to access vaccines.”
