Reading Time: 2 minutes

The family of slain Durban businessman, Kidesh Ramjettan has increased the reward from R50 000 to R300 000 for information that may lead to the arrest of suspects linked to his death.

The 37-year-old was shot and killed at his business premises at a petrol station in Rossburgh, Durban last month.

According to video footage circulating on social media, Ramjettan was talking to someone when an unknown suspect approached him, shot and killed him.

Ramjettan’s brother, Anesh Balraj says: “We haven’t received any clues as to who shot and killed my brother. So we upped the reward for any leads into the arrest or conviction of people or persons involved in this crime. It’s a very very difficult time for us especially for my parents, my nephew and his wife.”

“There’s no closure in this matter. We need to know why my brother was shot and killed. There was no motive that we know of, and it certainly wasn’t a robbery… he was basically assassinated.”

Meanwhile, KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Thulani Zwane says no arrests have been made.

He says police are still investigating this case and seasoned detectives from provincial office are handling the matter.

He says: “We are also appealing to anyone who might have information on the whereabouts of the suspects or anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward and give us information that will assist us.”
