Disgruntled Limpopo residents invade land illegally

Reading Time: < 1 minute

A group of disgruntled community members have invaded a piece of land and illegally demarcating stands for themselves at Tshikota Township outside Louis Trichardt in Limpopo.

They are accusing the Makhado Municipality of refusing to develop the land for residential purposes, while they don’t have houses.

A resident, who wants to remain anonymous, also alleges that they are unable to access RDP houses because they are being occupied by foreign nationals.

“We are tired. We have engaged with community leaders, we spoke to the municipality. But none of them is listening to our problem and now when we talk to them they say we don’t have a place, we are still planning, we have 50 unknown houses. Why should we suffer because we are born here? Who should we go to, who is in charge of this land, what are they planning?”
