Disgruntled members of the Free State African National Congress will on Thursday ask the High Court in Bloemfontein to declare the provincial elective conference to be null and void.
The ANC in the province held its elective conference on Sunday, electing Premier Ace Magashule as chairperson.
Disgruntled members claim that the conference was convened while there were still unresolved disputes in about 84 branches.
Political commentator Goodfriday Mhlongo says many ANC branches are barely functional.
“The ANC doesn’t have branches it doesn’t have functional branches it has branches that only sit when the need arises but in general terms there are no branches. Branches only exist when there is a need for instance now they need nominate candidate for national.”
