The Dias Festival in Mossel Bay has become much more inclusive over the last few years.

The three-day event, with the slogan “Where Cultures Meet”, is organised by the local municipality.

It includes a variety of activities for young and old, from a street parade to stalls, kids entertainment and a stage programme with a line-up of well-known artists.

Mossel Bay Mayor Harry Levendal says entrance is free to ensure that people from all walks of life can attend.

“More and more people from different cultures, different backgrounds came to attend the festival.  We started to do it free for all, people don’t have to pay, so we want to attract the poorest of the poor to attend this festival, because we want to give back to the community,” says Levendal.
