Foreign Editor for Independent Media, Shannon Ebrahim, says despite everything that the apartheid government threw at Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, the United States Congress acknowledged a day before she is laid to rest that she was an incredible woman and an amazing leader.
This comes after a video clip circulated on social media where the late struggle icon accuses particular journalists of “doing the work of” the Apartheid security establishment including StratCom.
Ebrahim says as Mama Winnie is being laid to rest, the world is starting to realise that all the narrative that they had been fed is actually incorrect and that she was an amazing woman.
“This week has done a lot to change perceptions of who she really was and the fact that she was not responsible for many of the things she was accused of.”
