The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) is now at 998, with 377 officials and 621 inmates.
In a statement, the department says the 22 additional cases of officials are from the Western Cape, Eastern Cape and Gauteng.
The Western Cape accounts for 17 of the new cases.
The 55 additional cases of inmates include 30 cases from the Eastern Cape, 23 from the Western Cape, one from KwaZulu-Natal and one from Gauteng.
The Department has 31 additional recoveries and the total is now 262. Active cases are standing at 736.
