Delegates at ANC policy conference happy with meals

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Caterers working at the African National Congress (ANC) policy conference at Gallagher Estate, in Midrand, have their hands full making sure the more than 3500 delegates are fed on time.

They don’t only provide the three normal meals, they also make sure that tea and snakes are made available throughout the day.

The meal menu varies, however, breakfast of muffins, rusks, and scones accompany tea and coffee.

The VIP lounge, solely for meetings and interactions with ministers, NGO’s and businesses, has three teas served.

Inside of the main dining hall where all delegates take their meals, sections are cordoned off for the different designations of the delegates.

The veterans are situated right next to their food, and special dietary needs are taken into consideration – a variety of salads including coleslaw and beetroot are served to them as well as lots of vegetables and meat.

The veterans also have their own lounge which is well heated for them to rest when they are tired.

Tea and coffee with savoury cakes are also served.

Some delegates the SABC spoke to say that they’re happy with the meals. They say the type and quality of food has improved compared to previous conferences.

They also have more choices. – By Busisiwe Radebe, Midrand
