De Lille wants report linking her in irregular expenditure amended

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Patricia De Lille says the report implicating her in the alleged irregular expenditure and mismanagement in the City of Cape Town is factually incorrect and needs to be amended.

On Friday, De Lille provided the Democratic Alliance (DA) with representations as to why she should not resign as mayor of the city. She has been barred from all party activities after a sub-committee of the party’s federal executive found sufficient concerns about the management and governance of the city.

She is also accused of planning to discredit a senior manager who questioned alleged tender irregularities.

De Lille says the report has tarnished her image unnecessarily.

“I think we are mixing issues, the first one is a political issue whereby there was a subcommittee established by the DA to investigate tensions in the City of Cape Town. I had until Friday to respond to that report which I did. The second part is that there were some allegations of wasteful expenditure within the City of Cape Town that was investigated by an independent company. I have requested the company to amend their report because I believe that council could not consider a report that was factually incorrect,” says De Lille.
